Do they even admit to knowing what cuddling is in Utah?
All events are announced on Meetup. Please join the Utah Cuddle Club meetup group for your most reliable source of being notified when events are scheduled. We also list events on the cuddleparty.com website through Eventbrite.
Utah has three official Cuddle Party facilitators as of 2015.
We each have a slightly different style, but we support each other and often attend each other’s events. We generally host parties on the weekends, but not always. Venues can include homes as well as public rentable spaces anywhere from Ogden down to the Provo area. At this time we do not have the parties scheduled on a regular basis, but we generally hold one or two per month. We mostly work on a donation basis, so money should not be an obstacle to attending our parties. Give what you can. Talk to the facilitator if tickets are expected and we’ll see what we can work out. We desire your presence more than your money.
Our cuddlers are single, married, anywhere from 19 to 75, and mostly hetero identified, but everyone is always welcome. We do not attempt to gender balance our parties, mostly because it never works. Secondly, this is a communication workshop and a non-sexual event. The conversation is always wonderful with intelligent, open, supportive people no matter their gender or preference.
Cuddle Party is primarily a communication workshop. We want to create a safe space for people to learn to ask for what they want, give their true answer and know that their answers will be respected. Cuddle Party is an excellent practice for these concepts that can then be used in your exchanges during your daily life. Of course, we also love experiencing safe and healing touch in an open and supportive environment.
Meet the facilitators:
Rick (Richard, Rich, Dick) is a natural cuddler and really enjoys connecting with people. One of his personal missions is to teach people how to handle communication and healthy touch. His favorite cuddle position is face to face so talking and close connection are possible. He is based in Lindon and hosts cuddle parties at his repurposed recording studio called “The Castle”.
Almoustine is a natural born writer and an amazing care taker. She found touch lacking in her go to work, come home, then repeat cycle and sought out Cuddle Party around 2012. Upon finding there were no facilitators in Utah, she decided to make it happen and became a facilitator herself. She started cuddle party in Utah from the ground up and the community here has grown safe and healthy under her care. Her favorite cuddle activity is telling silly stories, laughing, and primate grooming. Almoustine generally hosts in South Jordan in the Daybreak community.
Mary is a natural born hugger and loves connecting with people as well. She is working on moving in to the coaching/healing/wellness fields and cuddle party has been a wonderful gateway for her. Mary likes to offer workshop and discussion topics so each event can be slightly different. Mary’s favorite cuddle position is laying her head on someone’s shoulder, or someone with their head on her shoulder, this position allows easy access for back rubbing and talking at the same time. Mary generally hosts at different venues around the downtown Salt Lake area and is always looking for new venues to host in. If you have a location along the Wasatch Front you would like to offer for a public or private cuddle party, please contact her.
