DESCRIPTION:This workshop and social event offers participants opportunities to learn about and practice communication skills\, explore consent\, and discover the power of platonic touch. Attendees will practice identifying and asking for what they want\, saying no to what they don’t want and yes to what they do want\, and experimenting with platonic touch in a safe\, inclusive\, and nurturing environment. If you… \n-have been suffering from skin hunger and lack of touch in your life\n-desire physical contact with other people in a non-sexual way\n-long for nurturing and healing touch\n-need a safe place to relax and rejuvenate\n-are looking to connect with an inspiring and welcoming community\n-want to stretch out of your comfort zone\n-often find yourself in the role of caretaker\, but need a turn to be taken care of\n-have no idea how to answer the question “what kind of touch do you like?”\n-feel overwhelmed by both a desire for connection and a desire to run away from connection\n….then our Platonic Touch Workshop & Practice may be just what you have been looking for! \nMore details about this event: \nWHAT TO EXPECT: Participants will be required to bring their own rapid antigen Covid test to be taken upon arrival\, or show a photo of a rapid antigen test taken the day of the event. Once they have received a negative result or have shown a photo of that day’s negative result to the assistant\, they will be escorted into the workshop space. The welcome circle and workshop will introduce participants to one another and offer guided exercises and support to practice communication skills. Afterwards\, there will be approximately two hours available for practicing touch\, eating snacks\, or just hanging out. Our event ends a few minutes before 6:00pm with a brief closing circle. NOTE: Touch is not required at this event. Every activity is optional. You are welcome to come and observe only! You get to choose THE WHOLE TIME. \nPUNCTUALITY: Allow time for losing your keys and getting caught in traffic and looking for parking in order to be on time. Doors open at 1:00pm and close PROMPTLY at 1:30pm. In order to provide a safe and respectful environment for all participants\, there will be no admittance after 1:30pm. \nPARKING: There is plenty of street parking within 2-3 blocks of the home. Allow extra time to find parking! \nACCESSIBILITY: No pets live in the home. There is one flight of stairs to climb to attend the event\, and another flight of stairs to reach the all gender restroom. \nCLOTHING: Wear pajamas or comfortable lounge wear. Shoes are not allowed in the carpeted space where we will be gathering. \nFOOD & BEVERAGE: Please bring a snack\, a potluck dish\, or non-alcoholic beverages to share with the group in the kitchen area. \nPERSONAL HYGIENE: Avoid perfumes or any other strongly scented products\, as some people may be sensitive to these. Make sure you have showered or bathed recently. \nTICKETS: You must reserve your spot by purchasing a ticket through Eventbrite. We give you some tools to practice good communication\, figure out what you want and practice asking for it. You don’t have to be alone. Come be with us! \n​​THREE and HALF HOURS? YES\, PLEASE!​\nFolks have been asking for even MORE time for those juicy connections. So we are delivering.​\nPlease do come prepared to sit with us for the entire time. We will take breaks. 🙂 \n​​INTENTION 6:05pm CST Opening Circle starts. Please be on time. This will be a closed container\, latecomers not admitted. During the Cuddle Party Workshop we work on setting up communication agreements you can use anywhere. We will also have some exercises to help us practice communication skills and get comfortable together with each other. \n​​Open Connection time – We will have an hour or more of open time to see what comes up\, what you want to talk about and practice how you want to connect. \n​​Closing Circle – we will finish with a full closing circle. \n​​I will present the opening Welcome Circle and the Closing Circle exactly as I do at an in-person event so you can get the full experience.
